Great Expectations tells the
story of Pip (John Mills), a blacksmith's apprentice who inherits a handsome
property.
He believes that his unexpected
good fortune has originated from Miss Havisham, an eccentric old lady with whom
he was acquainted through playing with her adopted daughter Estella as a child.
However, pip's great expectations
have emanated from another quarter.

the 1842 edition.
The play is a comedy-of-errors,
portraying human greed, stupidity, and the deep corruption of powers in Tsarist
