Many people believe William
Shakespeare is the best British
writer of all time. His many works

mystery. He wrote the blockbuster
plays of his day - some of his most
famous are The Tempest, The
Merchant of Venice, Macbeth, King
Lear, The Taming of the Shrew,
Romeo and Juliet, and Hamlet.
Shakespeare is still regarded the
greatest dramatist, the greatest poet
and the greatest prose writer in the
history of the English language.
