Preparatory 3 , The Invisible Man
First published in 1897, The
Invisible Man ranks as one of the
most famous scientific fantasies
ever written. The Invisible Man
novel helped establish H. G. Wells
as one of the first and best writers
of science fiction.
The story concerns the life and
death of a scientist named Griffin
who has gone mad. Griffin, The
Invisible Man, has devoted himself
to research into optics and invents
a way to change a body’s refractive
index to that of air so that it
absorbs and reflects no light and
thus becomes invisible. He
successfully carries out this
procedure on himself.
Having learned how to make
himself invisible, Griffin begins to
use his invisibility for nefarious
purposes, including murder.
When he is finally killed, his body
becomes visible again.
